OHRDP supports harm reduction programs in Ontario by providing access to evidence-based harm reduction supplies, education and knowledge.

How We Support

OHRDP works with Public Health Units/Core Programs to increase their capacity and knowledge around inventory management, supply education, safer practices, and the trends throughout Ontario.

OHRDP Believes:

Everyone has the right to safe and equitable healthcare.
All harm reduction supplies are based on evidence and follow best practice.
Education is crucial to ensure safer practices are shared and understood.
Wrap-around care to support the needs of service-users is crucial to quality harm reduction service.

Harm Reduction Programs

Public Health Units in Ontario ensure equitable access to harm reduction supplies and education through a Core Harm Reduction Program (also called Needle Syringe Program – NSP). Each NSP provides access to new safer injection and safer inhalation supplies and services to match community need. Most sites also offer safer disposal community bins for used supplies.
